Please Donate to Provide Computers for our 7th and 8th Grade Classrooms

On #GivingTuesday, November 27, we invite you to participate in this global day of giving by donating to put new classroom laptops in the hands of every 7th and 8th grade Polaris student.

Donate today! Please help us achieve our ambitious goal to purchase 100 Google Chromebooks, so our 7th and 8th grade classrooms have enough new working computers for every student. Each laptop costs us $220, we need to raise $22,000.

Computers are essential tools for classroom learning and testing. Our Middle School students use laptops for their daily classroom work, sometimes doubling-up to share because there are not enough working computers. They also use classroom computers for their high school applications and essays (many do not have one at home). State and national assessment tests that determine and compare a student’s growth and achievement scores as well as their school’s standing are now conducted online. Polaris students need new classroom computers to take the NWEA MAP (Northwest Evaluation Association Measures of Academic Progress) and PARCC tests (Partnership for Assessment Readiness for College and Careers). Working on outdated or worn out computers puts Polaris students at a disadvantage. Many of our students cannot effectively focus or successfully complete MAP and PARCC tests when they are challenged by unreliable computers constantly kicking them off-line during testing. We cannot close the achievement gap when our children do not have the same tools as other students.

Our students use computers to explore, imagine, and work for their successful present and prepare for their bright futures. Polaris Middle School students are known nationally for their important work and innovative problem-solving ideas that focus on issues of social justice and celebrate the power of children to change their world. From the award-winning Peacekeeper Project to Our Day in MayPolaris students have brilliant ideas on how to tackle real world issues and contribute to a better world. Imagine how much more Polaris students would achieve with new computers?

Be an Active Citizen! Please be as generous as you can so we can supply our students with the new and relevant technology they need right now for their success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

You make the difference! Your generous giving and tax-deductible donation will significantly impact the lives of our 7th and 8th grade students and support their successful learning.

Thank you for donating to make a difference and contributing to a better world!

Please help us spread the word. Share about Polaris #GivingTechDay with your friends and family on social media.
