A brief history

In 2005 PCA founders Tracy Kwock, Michelle Navarre, and Roel Vivit were awarded the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. During their fall sabbatical, Tracy, Michelle, and Roel, along with their fellow awardees, conducted a semester-long study into the best practices of experiential learning.  They discovered that experience—through field work, simulations, the arts, and service—was the common thread.  This vision inspired these three educators to create Polaris Charter Academy as a school that uses active experiences to motivate and encourage high academic achievement for students in an area of high need.
